Blind Salamander - The Blind Salamander is an aquatic toglobite (found only in subterranean waters and possessing specialized adaptations for cave life in the dark zone). Most blind salamanders range from 2.5 cm to 5.0 cm (1-2 in) in total length, however, some may exceed 7.6 cm (3 in). The salamander's body is slightly translucent with a pinkish-to-silverish white color. Small dark specks or blotches, although faint, are apparent on the skin. The head, which is slightly depressed, is lined on each side by bright red external gills.
